From what I have witnessed, urinating in public is a cultural norm in Korea. There was a group of three or four women sitting out of frame on the right, and the parkette was quite busy. Didn’t phase that dude one bit. This photo was taken at around 7pm on a Saturday night near Konkuk University subway station.

I can understand trying to find a secluded spot after dark to relieve yourself, but in Korea, this kind of thing happens all the time, anywhere, anyplace.

In March, I was walking to Jongno3ga station to catch the train home when I saw this guy with his dick out pissing right on the glass wall of a bus shelter. There were people sitting on a bench on the other side of the glass. They didn’t seem to notice him, but if they had turned around, they would have been mortified. The site of this pathetically drunk man leaning up against a glass bus shelter urinating caught me off guard and I had to stop and have a smoke. As i finished my smoke he came stumbling down the road falling all over people standing by food stalls to eventually prop himself up against this poor tree.

With seeing people pissing on the street is quite common in the “drinking” area’s, it really pisses me off that some Koreans, and the anti-foreigner Korean media bring up public urination when they speak negatively about foreigners.

It’s common to find foreigners drinking anywhere.

You can even find foreigners drinking by fires they’ve set on the street.

Drunken, some urinate on the sidewalk, while others are making out even on the street.

I have never seen a sidewalk fire, so I can’t comment on that…but to bring up public urination is just silly. People piss in public all over the world, and from what I have seen over the years in Korea, Korean men and young children are pros.
